A traveller's farewell

a thousand words written
a thousand miles travelled
a thousand faces scanned
a thousand smiles felt
the heart records these
tacitly -
securely fastened by
the seatbelt of time

alas it is the hour
for the soul in flight
to fly... and
to return - inshaAllah
determined only by
the hands of fate
yet the written word of
the writer within
leaves beautiful memories
to safeguard and behold
farewell sweet land
i leave -
with a kiss of thanks.

  1. A beautiful deep serenity in your opening lines - that feels so true - that thoughts and experiences are written onto the living heart.

Tacit is a luscious word, but knowing it beforehand helps, and an expination of it within the poem is, perhaps, a suggestion.

the second half I see shapes from the first, but it revolves around 'soul' which is not in the first half - I know the soul flies, i know the soul grows and moves and shapes itself within the flesh, but I feel you write on the heart at first, then on the soul in the second ...do you see what I am thinking needs to be linked?

although, it is your words, your meaning, and only my own clumsy attempt to understand.
